Welcome to UKIP Kingswood Bradley Stoke

The UK Independence Party exists because none of the old traditional political parties are prepared to accept that the real government of Britain is now being transferred to Brussels.

Our purpose is to restore the authority for governing Britain to our elected parliament in Westminster. We have a wide-ranging Manifesto covering issues right across the political spectrum.

RISING SEA LEVELS?

Rising (or Falling) Sea Levels?   Global warming, CO2 levels, disappearing species. We’re doomed. Only green energy schemes along with their CO2 trading emission taxes and future taxpayer funded subsidies will put it right.   O.K, now for some practical basics.  On a relatively recent visit (April 2011) to Ghana in North Central Africa, I visited an interesting but rather sad former Portuguese Slave  trade castle/prison at Elmina on the western edge of Cape Coast.  It was built around 1482. Slaves were mustered here to be exported in the tens of thousands south and westwards to the Americas.  They would be ferries by canoe on the river within the prison to the waiting ships ¼ mile or so out to sea.  Now one of the residents the castle/prison was built here was because of the river.   Much has changed since 1482 and one of them being the river.  IT AIN’T THERE NOW!  No, the sea has actually fallen by about 5 metres – I’ve measured it!!   Keeping things simple you, like myself, probably have certain ideas in your head such as cyclical sea volume drifts and displacements due to solar/lunar distance variations and positioning over time effecting different pulls in different place, earth axis variations, solar activity and so on.   Some areas of the world have indeed experienced sea level rises of 10cm in the last 300 years, but very little mention of 5 metre drops   Average global temperatures over the last 1000 years have only varied by +/- 2c – yep just 2c.   Co2 level were approximately 5% 500 million years ago, nowadays 0.038%!!   The Arctic ice cap has decreased by about 30% in size, but the Antarctic has increased by about 30%. Polar bear numbers have roughly doubled since the 1950’s.   If all this is a bit remote, then how about Stonehenge there used to be a river here 3000 years ago.   Remember the seaside when you were a child in Weymouth or Western super Mare.  The sea doesn’t seem any higher now than then.   We’ll probably always have freak highs and lows but relative recent averages have tended to stay consistent.   Of course, all of this would deny excuses for the E.U. to raise funds from taxes and levies to keep them going.  Now that wouldn’t do would it?  If they were really serious and caring why not just ban the standby button on all electrical goods.  Oh sorry, no money to be made there.  Actually it would be cheaper, but that’s no good!   Anyway thanks for reading and have a good think.   Sincerely, Chris Luscombe, Kingswood UKIP member...
